Written By: admin on January 24, 2010 3 Comments

I’m doing a report for school and need to know what some jobs related to digital photography are. I need jobs where using digital photography is the main skill required.

And i can’t do my report on just a Photographer. My teacher said it’s to basic and dull.

Photographers are often categorized based on the subjects they photograph. Some photographers explore subjects typical of paintings such as landscape, still life, and portraiture. Other photographers specialize in subjects unique to photography, including street photography, documentary photography, fashion photography, wedding photography, war photography, photojournalism and commercial photography.

Paparazzi are photographers who take candid photographs of celebrities.
    hope this helps!!!

    Umm…

Well, I could tell you some photography jobs, if that helps.

The digital comes in really in post processing. That’s a major difference. Otherwise, in the field, it’s mostly the same.

Photojournalism – has subs in it, such as sports, politics, etc.
    Wedding – pretty obvious
    Portraiture – again…
    Fashion – again…
Art – of art, there’s also artistic photography where post processing is used to make nearly abstract images
Freelance – and stock as well, can also overlap with photojournalism at times… do this, do that, sell around
Architecture & Real Estate – again obvious

Those are just the main ones, of course.

All the photo jobs that were shot with film can, for the most part be shot digitally.

There are a few cases where digital is really better than film.

One would be under low light conditions. Most of the newer DSLR’s provide a much better image at high ISO’s than film at the same ISO.

Any “deadline” images are best shot using a digital camera, since there is no processing time and the pre-press work can be done literally minutes after the photographer has made the shot and has sent it to the newspaper or magazine over the internet using a FTP server.

There are times when film is still king. Many magazines prefer to accept colour transparencies for publications, one “Arizona Highways” only accepted medium and large format transparencies for their publication until this year.
