These days everyone is taking pictures with a digital camera. Gone are the days of using 35mm cameras as the world of digital photography offers far more flexibility and scope at comparatively small cost. So what is the best way to view your digital pictures once you have filled your memory card?

A digital picture frame offers fantastic portability and flexibility so you can conveniently view your pictures from the comfort of your armchair. No need to boot the PC up just to look through your pictures anymore with a digital photo frame. They are fantastic when you have friends or family around as it’s so easily to show off your pictures. The alternative is to sit huddled around your PC – which of course is not practical.

There are several ways to get your digital pictures onto your photo frame. Most digital picture frames come complete with on board memory so you can upload a sample of pictures directly onto your frame from your PC for viewing. You may have a USB flash drive that contains photos – simply plug the USB device into the frame and your photos will be showed.

One of the main ways of viewing your photos is to take your memory card from your camera and simply insert it into the frame. Digital photo frames take virtually all memory card types such as SD, XD, compact flash, SDHC etc… This is an extremely simple and convenient way to instantly view your photos.

Many photo frames come with fantastic software that provides image enhancement to improve your photos further such as crop, rotate, zoom-in, and even adjust photo color tones to black & white or sepia. In fact some frames allow these effects inside the frames themselves – so it’s not always necessary to use the software.

Most frames have a multiple viewing modes to allow the show of your photos in a variety of different views. You can view one at the time or as a slide show with a timed interval between each photo. There is a thumbnail view so multiple images can be viewed at the same time and for quick and simple searches, Finally a single frame mode where one frame can be chosen to be showed permanently. This is fantastic for when your frame is sitting on a shelf or on top of the TV – just like a picture frame.

There are low power modes for single photo show so that the frame does not use a lot of power when left switched on hours at a time. Some frames even have a timer facility where you can choose when and how often your picture is showed – so it can be switched off at night.
